Off-the-cuff creating is fun (and essential to play!) but that doesn’t mean I don’t love a brainstorm session first, complete with vision boards, a shot list, and a well-organized call sheet.
❋ Collaborative
Depending on the scope of your project, palet works with a number of talented second-shooters, stylists, and models. Just ask about our production options and art direction experience.
❋ Affordable & Eco-concious
Affordable rates are possible when we don’t give into the expensive gear-upgrade/cycle every quarter. At palet I’m on a mission to get creative when it comes to re-usable props and recyclable materials that don’t end up in a landfill.
❋ Human-powered
I am anti-AI when possible. Especially when it comes to writing. I craft copy and edit without the use of prompts. I edit photos using manually-created Lightroom and Photoshop presets with some minor exceptions.

A Note from the Captain:
Coco McCracken
“As a kid, I had parents that supported my pursuit of the arts. Unfortunately, North American society can be less than supportive when it comes to fostering the proper infrastructure to help a creator succeed.
Especially when it comes to women, mothers, artists of color, and other marginalized communities, the pay gap is wide and loans are hard to secure.
Luckily, there are nonprofits out there helping connect artists with the business means they need to flourish. We’re not one yet, but it is our goal to become one the future.
In the meantime palet’s goal is to bring photography, marketing, and copywriting to those in the arts, as well as the social justice and eco-conscious nonprofits. So many of these organizations have helped me as an artist, sustained me as a writer, and reminded me why I wanted to be an artist in the first place.”
Bio
From red carpets to mosh pits, weddings and brand re-vamps, Coco has photographed countless people, places, and products. At the helm of palet, she’s able to combine a scrappy curiosity and polished work ethic to clients of all types. If you ask her to experiment with film, video, or collage she is thrilled. Do you need her to spend a day with a clay-shooter, glass-blower, doctor, or skydiver? She’s in. palet is based in Portland, ME but willing to travel.
Coco is also a writer and the author of the chapbook The Rabbit. She serves on the board of directors at the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance. When she’s not writing love notes in her kids’ lunchboxes, she’s contributing to Wirecutter and Kirkus. When she really gets going, she’ll write essays about pop culture, Ryan Gosling, her complicated relationship with her mom, and being raised mixed-race in the 90s.
